Talking consumerism blues

A few weeks ago me acquired a Dirt Devil Breeze Bagless Vacuum. I say "acquired" because I came home one day and it was sitting in my living room. My FIL was out spending money and we were the beneficiaries of his largesse. Love that man.

Anyway, since using this machine, I don't know how we could have managed to live in this house with all of the crap that was in the carpet. After running this vacuum I am pouring out 1/2 a canister full of dirt and hair everytime. I have vacuumed twice this week, and that is just gross. Unless of course there is a secret compartment in this vacuum that holds hair and grossness, and when you turn on the machine it opens up that compartment just to make you think that the vacuum is doing this terrific job.

That sort of goes along with my thoughts on gasoline being a collective mind product. We have been told what "gasoline" is, we believe it, and therefore it exists. But what if what we were putting into our car tanks was just water that was scented? What if we are all part of this huge conspiracy on the part of the auto and oil companies? Hmmmm? Makes those stories about carburators that run on water just a little more real, now doesn't it?

I am sick of our cable company, Comcast. They are raising my rates yet once again, and I am getting nothing out of it but a lighter wallet. I am looking into Direct TV, and Dish TV. My FIL contacted Dish TV and they set up a time to install, but never showed. I haven't heard anymore from him about it, but I also haven't seen a dish on his house as I have gone by. I like Direct TV's offerings better in that I get my local channels as part of the package. If anyone of you out there reading this, all 5 of you, have an opinion on this I would love to hear it. I am also looking to bundle my computer access into whichever one I go with for television, cause it ain't gonna be too long before Comcast starts bumping my rate on that either.

Anyway, that is how my Sunday is going. The Princess is in practicing her saxaphone right now, she is going to a skating party this evening, and MDW will be back from her couple of days in the woods. It is marvelous having a family that is so active with so many varied interests.

I say that now because I am not having to ferry anyone anywhere. Talk to me tonight when I have to pick The Princess up.

Namaste.

Hello, I'm one of the five readers. :-) Comcast never gives a good experience. Go Direct TV, make sure you have a DVR and you will never be a slave to your television again. Record everything of interest and watch it when you have time. What a novel idea. Your life will be changed forever. Direct TV has always had responsive customer service too.

Hey!! Howdy one of my 5 faithful readers!! Thanks for chiming in on this. I actually am leaning towards Direct Tv because local channels are included in their packages, while with Dish Network you have to pay extra. I am not for paying extra for things. Did you take the DVR that Direct Tv offers, or did you get one on your own? And if you did get one on your own, which kind did you get? My entertainment center is rather cluttered rightn now what with DVD players, the Comcast box, and the VCR. Yes, we still have a VCR for those old movies that we have not bought DVD's for. Silly thing is now 12 years old.

Namaste.
